Step 1 Lead-in (3 mins)
Greet students and show the picture of Mona Lisa, then ask students what do you think of the painting, and invite students express their opinions, for example, “ it is a masterpiece/it is mysterious and a little disturbing. /it is a work of genius. The effect of the light.”

Listen to the tape for the first time and answer the following questions:

2. Careful listening (10 mins)
Listen to the tape carefully and answer the following questions:

(2) Why the six buyers didn’t know about the other paintings?
(Justification: these questions can help students to understand this passage much better, and improve their intensive listening to get the specific information.)
Step 4 Post-reading (15 mins)
Imagine that someone has stolen a famous work of art in China, and then do a role play, one students as the interviewer and others students as interviewees to do a report.
(Justification: this activity can improve the imagination of students, and their speaking ability can be also improved, this activity is very interesting, so it can arose students interests .)
Step 5 Summary and homework (2 mins)
